PROJECT: RJ
♠ Project RJ is an Autonomous Overland Vehicle (AOV) that will provide real time data through Bluetooth medium to Android and iOS powered devices.
♠ RJ will provide ambient conditions as well as a video relay to the user.
♠ Future modifications will provide soil mositure content as well as soil shear resistance for path finding applications to a follow emergency vehicle.
Present and Future Features
LED Headlights
LED lighting powered by the systems 12 volt supply. The lighting can be controlled remotely by the user or autonomously by a photosensitive diode mounted on RJ.
Robust and Powerful Articulating Steering
RJ's steering can be controlled remotely by the end user currently. In the future RJ will incorportate a 3 axis gyroscope and GPS enabled chip to allow "follow me mode" autonomously behind the path of a Bluetooth enabled Andriod or iOS device.
On Demand Throttle
RJ consists of a fully functional and infinitely variable throttle for both forward and reverse locomotion. This is made possible through a 5 volt logic PWM (Power Width Modulation) signal to a Mosfet. The current design has been stress tested to ensure that the thermal extraction system maintains the Mosfet at a safe operating temperature through all power loads.

About The Mechanical Engineer
My name is Alex Johnston. I am a senior at Texas Tech University pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. My enthusiasm for innovation and knowledge is fueled by the blessings and teachings of many great leaders I have met in life, both professionally and personally. It is my mission to make a profound and meaningful impact on the future of autonomous vehicles, both land- borne and air-borne, to make the world a safer place.
